About
ABOUT THE SCHOOL
West Mains School is one of 9 Additional Support Needs schools in South Lanarkshire Council. We are a specialist provision for children with Speech, Language and Communication difficulties which serves East Kilbride, Hamilton, Blantyre, Rutherglen & Cambuslang areas.
Our pupils benefit from smaller class sizes and higher staff ratios to support their learning. As with mainstream education we follow Curriculum for Excellence. In West Mains we adapt the curriculum and use active learning, practical tasks and the community to support our pupils’ learning and encourage them to be the best they can be.
We share a campus with Halfmerke Primary School and we moved into our new Inclusive School building in February 2017 as part of South Lanarkshire’s schools modernisation programme.
